Dr. Guy Golan is an associate professor of strategic communication in Texas Christian University’s Bob Schieffer College of Communication.
Before joining TCU, Dr. Golan served on the Public Relations faculty of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School. He has co-edited two books and published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles focused on digital media, communication campaigns and media effects.
Dr. Golan’s current research focuses on “influencer relations,” which he describes as “the next big thing in public relations.” Dr. Golan argues that influencer relations, like media relations, should be a component of any strategic communications campaign. He has studied how influencers can help cut through the glut of information swirling about and deliver messages to your target audience.
Influencers, he says, are bridges into online communities. Savvy communications professionals take time to identify who the core influencers are in their markets, build partnerships with influencers, and keep them engaged.
Elizabeth “Eli” Milstein is director of sales for Simpli.fi, the Fort Worth-based advertising automation platform with its headquarters on Mule Alley in the Historic Stockyards. She earned her undergraduate degree in international business from UT Arlington and has served as a Mission Arlington volunteer for 22 years.
A six-year, Simpli.fi veteran, Eli works with agencies and brands to place ads wherever their customers are. Simpli.fi aggregates advertising inventory across digital platforms and uses behavioral data and “digital breadcrumbs” to identify target audiences and connect them with an advertiser’s content.
The high-tech, matchmaking is a must as 86 percent of U.S. households today subscribe to high-speed Internet and watch content on demand on multiple devices. As Eli says, “Someone has to leverage where all the eyeballs are.”
